I really enjoyed Tin Omen [ooh, curvy goth woman in a corset, who would have guessed :-)]. They played that particular style of Industrial that always works well with me: bleepy stuff with thrashing guitars over the top.
I was also quite taken by The Azoic. The lead singer reminded me of
foxy76 - she looked similar, and had *ahem* a slight air of the dizzy blonde about her... Kudos to her for her belief that "the show must go on", and playing with a dislocated finger (you can see the swelling in some pics of her), and heading off for surgery as soon as she had finished her set.
My memory of Covenant interesting: I can't recall it in any detail, but the whole thing occupies a warm, happy, fuzzy place of amazing things in my head.
Deviant UK were great. As I said a few times, I like a band where the lead singer is uglier than me - it doesn't happen often :-)
Blutengel were very, very silly, but quite watchable. Not *quite* sure what this bunch of goths were doing at InFest, but it was entertaining. I did enjoy Night of the Blood Vampire. Or was it Vampire of the Blood Night?. No, I think it was Blood of the Night Vampire. Whatever. As
miss_wonderly pointed out, how could they have been any more goth? After much discussion, we decided that they *could* have come on it coffins...
The rest of the bands were OK for my taste. Final Selection were possibly the only band that really bored me to the degree that I wandered off. I missed HIV+ (and their naked woman, but she looked a bit thin for my taste), Univaque and Kiew - at some point I have to go off and get changed and eat some food, and I always miss some bands. Still, at least this year I made a 100% correct decision in not riding up to Middlesbrough to see them play Charlton: Boro played like a bag of shite and lost three-nil at home :-( I was in the pub opposite the halls, surrounded by InFest-goers, with just myself and one other very depressed Boro supporter watching the match.
Food at our special cafe was great, and I got to eat a couple of very nice chicken tikka kebabs. I found the whole weekend to be a great mixture of hanging around with the people who mean a lot to me, dancing, watching bands, dressing up and relaxing. I arrived home part knackered, part completely chilled-out. Is it really a year till the next one?
One final thought: Dancing on the last night, Suicide Commando's Love Breeds Suicide started. Around me were
childeric,
miss_wonderly and
toripink. Opposite me
steer was bouncing happily, a cigarette hanging rakishly from his mouth. Then, a smiling
gothgrr appeared to my left and a smiling
quondam appeared to my right, and for a few moments I felt utterly at one with the universe...

I recommend the getting changed at 3pm, eating at the venue trick. If you want to be flash and do day/night wear, you can always bring a bag of stuff and change between bands - I had a rucksack with me for the first couple of bands Sat/Sun without it being a problem as it wasn't busy, then checked it in to the cloakroom about 6.30ish. Much better than missing stuff, even if stuff is weird skinny naked german birds...

Hee hee. This is more that I fall out of bed, assemble an outfit of reasonable black cothing, and wear that for half the day before thinking "now, I *really* must make an effort for the evening." :-)
I could take clothing with me ... but did you *see* the size of my boots!

erm...yes.... I do feel guilty about that. VPAEDW turns up, tries to talk to (stone cold sober) John, gives up, talks to Vince...."Where's John gone? All that appears to be left is a sudden inrush of air and a departing yell of "I'm off to daaaaannnnnnccccceeeeee", slightly doppler shifted......"

I think I was a little more mentally prepared for the experience :-)
Top Bands
Even though Kiew had men with guitars they were too instrumental for me.
