On Bank Holiday Monday afternoon I did watch some of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I have a soft spot for this film, as it was the first ever film I saw at the cinema. My dad took me to see it when I was about 5 years old. I have vague recollections of the experience: the huge expanse of the darkened cinema, the vastness of the screen, the swirls of cigarette smoke (hey, it was the 70s) curling in the projected light and not being able to see that well 'cos I was tiny :-)

Older readers, even if they haven't seen the film, will recall the cartoon soccer match in it being a staple of Bank Holiday Disney Time for many years.

So, what was the first film you saw at the cinema?

Right, I've just ordered Jason and 7th Voyage of Sinbad on dvd - Jason has an interview with Ray and both have documentaries :-) Clash is only available as a region 1 dvd seemingly (although my machine plays both I think) but more to the point there wasn't any info about extras, so I'll hold off on that for the moment. I do definitely have it on video though. I loved the way it peopled Mount Olympus with Actors - Olivier, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress etc. Anyway, a Harryhausen evening would be ace :-)

I have a "double feature" set of videos somewhere - one has the 7th voyage and golden voyage on. The other is jason and might be eye of the tiger.

I could be persuaded into Golden Voyage, although I don't like it as much as 7th Voyage. I have got it on video certainly. Both are better than Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, although I've got that one on video too.

Oooh... had to look up 7th voyage of Sinbad to refresh my mind. It truly was an excellent film. I also loved Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger -- though I think that was much later.

Looks like "Clash of the Titans" was pretty much the last thing he did apart from some tiny projects and guest roles. I wonder why.
