Just in case anyone is interested, I'm going to see this tonight. One other person is currently joining me - I won't name them in case they want to keep their Thunderbirds preferences a secret :-) [EDIT: he doesn't - it's [livejournal.com profile] andyguest] I'll be at the VUE cinema in York for about 20:00. Feel free to join me. It's had mixed reviews, but I kinda have to see it, for 'completeness'. The Vin of 30 years ago will travel through a time warp and kick me if I don't...

Is the Vin of 30 years ago really a threat?

I expect you would easily be able to hold him off. His best weapon being an annotying whine.

Is your icon a comment on us being the 51st State or some comment on pre-independence America because that's what the colony's flag was before independence. Well actually no it wasn't because it didn't have the red diagonals (pre Union!).

I absolutely adored the original Thunderbirds and as such am not sure if I should see the film because if as I suspect they have turned it into a pile of cack, I will be a rage that will burn hotter than a thousand suns after, which will NOT be good.

Anyway out of all the original Gerry Anderson series I would have thought Captain Scarlet would have been the better choice for a movie, but then I thought it was the better series. The voice of the Mysterons rules.

Thank you, that's made my mind up. I will definitely not be going to see it.

I think you are right to have that feeling which is why I won't be going to see it, it will be too much like seeing the Sistine channel covered in grafitti. Why do they have to fuck around with perfection?

Yeah, seats rumbling and ears bursting when thunderbird two flies past !

Absolutely. Although they would need to cast someone devastatingly handsome and debonair as Captain Scarlet, otherwise it would be all wrong ;-)

Maybe Pierce Brosnan, he does have the debonair style, judging from his James Bond outings, but would he be too old to make a passable Captain Scarlet? Will have to ponder this one further.

Er Vin, I hate to break it to you, but you have no hair at the moment. *ducks*

Oh of course. The original voice was supposed to sound like Cary Grant!

Yes - and very nice it was too!

It was probably wrong of me to have imagined, in my youth, that Captains Scarlet and Blue had a more than purely working relationship however ;-)

You weren't imagining it, there was definite under currents there.

Captain Blue, lovely blond blue eyed guy that he is, how could the dark and suave Captain Scarlet resist?

One could certainly tell that neither of them was remotely interested in those dreadful harpies Symphony, Rhapsody, Harmony and Destiny.

You are surely, by now, well aware of my spoddy tendencies? I know what a Jeffries Tube is and everything ;-)

Were there really five? They all looked the same to me frankly. When I was about 15 I had a really good Captain Scarlet calendar but I didn't use the months that had any of those trollops on it. Better two months of Lieutenant Green any day.

Ah, but that's Star Trek, and lots of girls like Star Trek, what with the whole Mr Spock thing going on ("I'll cure him of his lack of emotions")

I don't know what you mean *cough* although do hand over the picture. And any of Gul Dukat/Worf/Chakotay that you happen to have about your person while you're at it

I don't know I kind of fancied Leonard Nimoy more in Mission Impossible. Then again I am a strange woman.

Me too. More dark, more adult, more goth! ;-)

There has been some initial work on a CGI version of Captain Scarlet as a new series. In fact a quick google shows that has come on somewhat!. I have a test clip from an early rendering somewhere at home.

The voice of the Mysterons rules.
The Mysterons are old hat. It's now the voice of the DWP.

But...but...I loved the Mysterons. You've broken my heart I'm now going off to cry the tears of someone who has just given birth to a ginger baby.

From: [identity profile] cyberspice.livejournal.com
It's still the Mysterons in Captain Scarlet, but have you not seen those advertisments about dole fraud in which the DWP seem to have the same kind of detectors as the Mysterons.

Personally I *loved* the mysterons.

Oh I know the ones you mean, I usually skip channels when an advert comes on, ah I love cable. I'm glad you loved the Mysterons too, my faith in your innate good taste is restored.

I was thinking of going, but the trailers put me off to much. It looks as though it will be liked by those under the age of six. perhaps I should go then...

I saw a Making of the other night and it looked offensively shite, a cutesy twee kiddie movie like Spy Kids with naff CGI of the Thunderbirds vehicles - I'll be giving it a miss!

I thinking protecting my identity on the grounds I may be embarrassed by people knowing I want to see Thunderbirds is very kind of you Vin but most folks know my tastes in films is, ah, pretty much all encompassing.

Is it an eight o'clock start or get there at eight ?

Okey dokey, I'll see you there and then !

Any chance of a review?

The most succinct opinion I've read so far is the grammatically challenged: "Thunderbirds lays an egg".
