Fluffy Kittens!
Last night I went round to Phil and Anna's (WANOLJ) to see the kittens their cat has given birth to. They're just over a week old, and hugely cute. I've never seen kittens this young before, with their eyes only just opening. When Anna picked one up to show it to us it squeaked most pathetically, and the mother got up all concerned to retrieve it. She attempted to do that "scruff of the neck" thing, but it was the first time she had done it (apparently) and she wasn't very good at it. Hopefully she'll get better!
The mother is pedigree, and the kittens were supposed to be too, but the mother (Cobweb) escaped whilst in season, and it appears a local tom is the father instead. So the kittens are good quality "British Domestics" :-)

Utter bilge. Rodents scurry around in the muck living off rubbish. Cats are delicate creatures of grace and stealth, that kill and eat small life forms for nutrition (or get me to open a tin of cat food). Rodents are dangerous to humans because of the diseases they can spread. Cat to human diseases are almost unknown.
If Londoners had encouraged the cats (rather than killing them all) during the great plague era they would have been a lot better off!

Cats are not delicate creatures, they're quite often great tubby lumps.
Rodents also kill and eat small life forms for nutrition.
Cat to human diseases are actually not uncommon.

<thinks of a lot of the cats I know>
OK, I'll concede that point :-)
