Is it just me, or are there a lot more Category 2s seeking the warmth of our houses this autumn?
I found one this morning lurking under a small pile of my dirty washing, as I picked it up to put it in the washing basket. I'll never wear those underpants again...

Think how traumatized the spider must have been to have accidentally wandered into your underpants!

I had to kill on in my underpants and sock draw, so it could be worse.

Well it could be worse if I was actually in any way afraid of spiders,
but still ... I did have to check my pants for spiders, which was nice.

I'm surprised the poor spider didn't suffocate.

I evicted an absolute monster from the stairs yesterday, where it had cunningly disguised itself as carpet fluff. I'm a bit disappointed that, just as I have got over my phobia, K has developed one, or I would have allowed it to stay.

There do seem to be a few more around than usual but I have noticed that there are fewer craneflies, which, if this is a side effect, is a very welcome one.

We have one living on the landing, and another that dashes across the front room floor round about 9.30pm every evening. There are also several webs set up in strategic locations in our garden and greenhouses. Every time I water the aubergines and hanging baskets I suddenly remember too late as I can almost hear the webmasters swearing as I bugger up all their carefully designed threads yet again. So far they haven't jumped into my hair or run up my sleeve to take revenge.

The other half dealt with a humungous beastie a couple of weeks ago. When I first glimpsed it scuttling past, out of the corner of my eye, I honestly thought it was a mouse. And when I applauded Arthur for managing to despatch it before it ran away, he responded in untypically respectful tones - 'Oh, it wasn't running away. I think it fancied its chances.' :-o

We've had loads, though I've been putting it down to suddenly having two-and-a-half times as much house and a stonking great garden. Only the BugBusters stand between me and arachnomisery at the moment. I love my BugBusters.

1) Phill Jupitus- genius
2) Judging by the amount of screams in our house recently uttered by my dear daughter, I would agree with the concept of a major increase in category 2's!

This one was skulking outside Joolz's back door (NO! That is NOT a euphemism).
