I had a lovely Saturday. I spent the afternoon lazing around in the summer house, reading a large newspaper and drinking lots of coffee. That's not something I get much chance to do any more. That evening Trash and I wandered into York, had some food, then went to see 21 at Vue. I wanted to see 21 to see quite what a Hollywood makeover the speccy geeks of the MIT Blackjack Team got. The answer: pretty extensive :-)

Football was fantastic on Sunday! Middlesbrough thrashed Manchester City 8-1! You don't see matches like that very often. I did see Boro beat Leicester City 6-0 many, many years ago. In fact, that was one of the very first Middlesbrough matches I ever saw at Ayresome Park, when this girl called Trash I had recently got involved with dragged me up there to see some football.

Speaking of that odd girl, Tuesday 13th May marked twenty years since she grabbed hold of me outside the Richard III on Rougier Street in York, said "come 'ere you" and snogged my face off. It's been an interesting 20 years...

Work is currently very busy. I also thought I had a very obscure problem in my code on Tuesday, which I was finding very hard to pin down. Then on Wednesday I realised that the "primary keys" in the database export I had been sent were, er, not "primary keys" at all. They were kinda an *attempt* at something resembling a primary key. One small problem: they weren't always unique! *sigh* Taking that into account the 'bug' turned out to be my program doing the best it could in the face of dodgy input data. TBH, I kinda blame myself: never trust your input data.

Annual summer events are starting to crawl out of the woodwork now. I've already started work on some code for the processing of Big Brother stories.

My M3100 had to be replaced twice. The first replacement was as broken as the first. However, I now have one that has stayed fully operational for 24 hours, so it's looking good. I do miss my M3100. The big win is it's good PC connectivity.

My motorbike is fixed too! She's had a service and a new gear lever. My ride to work is now a lovely blast along dry roads in relatively warm air. She's done over 95,000 miles now. All being well, I should clock her this summer. At that point I think I'll just run her till something significant breaks, then sell her for scrap. It might be nice to ride her down to Matlock Bath when she's clocked. There would be a certain comedy value in a rusty old VFR with something like 00008 miles on the clock! Of course, if I do sell her what do I get next? The obvious answer is to locate another low mileage VFR 750. Whatever you do, don't get me a BMW: Another Downfall mashup.
