There are a few comments on my previous (Friends Only) post which I would normally have replied to, but earlier today I encountered an example of the "unexpected and problematic event" I sometimes talk about. At 12:30 I got a rather tearful phone call from Trash. Whilst stationary at some traffic lights, returning home from The Wacky Warehouse with Evie in the back, a large black 4X4 had piled into the back of the Civic Type-R! Trash and Evie were fine (but both rather shaken). The Type-R has a somewhat bent and buckled back end. The hatch still opens and (just about) closes. It's insured fully comprehensive and Trash has already been on the phone to the insurance company. The Type-R will be off to their repair place on Clifton Moor shortly. Who knows what they'll find underneath when they get it up on the ramp...
Fortunately, Fridays at work are usually quiet. We rarely roll out new systems, code or configurations as you don't want to risk something being broken all weekend. Therefore it was OK for me to take the afternoon off, and head back to York to make cups of tea for a slightly wobbly Trash and help out with looking after Evie.
It happened at the first set of traffic lights on the A1036 turn off for York. The driver was from Bolton and clearly not paying attention to what was going on, as the visibility of those lights is good and there's plenty of shellgrip on the road there too. Bah!
