Cycling in the sun
I went out for my first big cycle ride of the year this afternoon. In theory, about 15.5 miles, plenty of off road, round the roads and bridleways south east of York. It was great! The fields were all packed earth, which is fun to ride across (if a little rattling). I've been running over the winter and I'm sooooo much fitter than I was a year ago. I can remember cycling down to Cycle Heaven at the other end of Bishy Road (maybe 2.5 miles) at Easter last year and being a bit dizzy when I got there.
The only bummer was I picked up a flat somewhere, and at about the 10.5 mile mark felt the rear tyre going. It was gone by 11.5 miles, so I had to walk the rest of the way home. I suppose I should carry a pump, but that's the first flat I've ever had on that bike, and the little computer on it says I've done 650 miles (and I've done plenty more without the computer). Still, it was a nice sunny day, and it's all exercise. I even ran for a bit with the bike, but it was a bit hot for me to run. I ran over the winter, where you worry about keeping warm, not cool.

I do wonder if I'll turn into someone who wears lycra a lot though... I'm a bit of a lightweight compared to some of the people I see out riding...

Cycling damages your bits. There is nothing sexy about damaged parts.
Lycra is great on girls and ballet dancers. Everyone else looks daft.

Ah yes. There's a classic live journal tale of woe brewing there... I'm a bit tired to enter it tonight but I must do so soon...

Well, that's debateable. As will become clear to others, parts can be temporarily damaged such that it changes their characteristics. These changes are not necessarily for the worse for others...
