Well, that was a fun afternoon. Middlesbrough 2 Arsenal 1! And Arsenal's goal was scored in the 95th minute, so hardly counts :-) One of the best football matches I've seen in months, and just the kind of daft result football sometimes throws up. Usually, it's teams that haven't won away since Brian Clough was a player, coming to the Riverside and getting their first away win for a million years. *This* time it worked the other way, with an unbeaten-all-season team getting beaten by the crappy Boro!

Actually, Boro weren't that crap at all, and it does seem there's something of a meme about causing Arsenal problems right now: go straight at them from the kickoff. Chase every ball, harrass and tackle every player, work really hard, show them no respect. They don't like it up 'em!

I think any Manchester United supporters out there owe any Newcastle and Middlesbrough supporters a drink, seeing as we've taken five points of Arsenal in the last week.

* New Holgate end chant at about the 80 minute mark. Followed by "can we beat you every week". I don't recall hearing "are you Sunderland in disguise?" though.

Boro looked by far the stronger of the two teams and it was a well-deserved win, I thought.
