I work on the 6th floor of a cast iron framed textiles mill built between 1815 and 1830. The wind today was making it shake! It also has a large chimney still attached to it, which was apparently wobbling in the wind. Also resident in our building is a section of the Health and Safety Executive, and I don't think they liked the look of this (or the possible paperwork they could see looming) so the building has been closed down.
I'm now in the 'refugee camp' of Leeds station looking for a train to York..

How bad is Leeds at the moment? - I'm probably going to sit it out here until about 6 then see what's going!

I don't know about now, but it took me two and half hours to get from Leeds to York this morning...

Interesting, it took me my usual hour or so from York station to Saltaire (0844 running about 5 mins late from York; 0926 bang on time from Leeds; Saltaire at 0942 as usual!)

I think a lot of the problems earlier were over the Pennines, leading to east-bound trains getting very delayed.

I don't know about now, but it took me two and half hours to get from Leeds to York this morning...

My trip to Leeds on Thursday morning was fine. As you've noted, it was the east-bound traffic that was flaky :-( How long did it take you to get home last night? I ended up sat in Leeds station for an hour, but the train I eventually got did get back in 25 minutes.

I didn't have to get the train home hopefully -- Richard and I were cleaning up my house in York, so I got a lift home. :-)

Did you get my emails? I've discovered that there's *something* about the trying to reply to an LJ comment that IE on my M3100 does not like, such that I don't get a "Post Comment" button! This is odd, as IE is usually the crap, slow, last-choice web browser that you keep hanging around as "at least IE will always render the page". I'm a bit stuck as to what to do when IE will NOT render a page!

I'm off to install some other web browers on my M3100 now (minimo is calling). Opera costs money, but if it works...

Yes, got them when I got home. My journey was OK - left the office just before the 6.11 to Leeds was due, this turned up 15 mins late but otherwise everything was fine and I was at York station at around 7.20 and home not long after.

A woman here at work lives in York and she said all trains except the ones to York were cancelled.

No! I think we both just thought it was unusual and blogworthy to be "sent home as a chimney on your place of work is in danger of imminent collapse!" :-) Plus his post had photoes...
