Quite to my surprise, Psydoll were playing Darklands on Saturday night when I arrived. I quite liked them, though they were a bit loud and intense and deafened me slightly in one ear. However, they did appear to be using a theremin onstage! I love theremins. It's the fantastic "1950s SF sound" they make. They *are* 'the future'. There was a small debate at work today as to whether or not it was a theremin though. It only had one antenna, and theremins are known to have two. As it was clearly "an instrument that you played by moving your hands around in an electromagnetic field", I figured it counted.
This lead to me looking around for pictures of theremins on images.google.com. Whilst doing so, I found perhaps one of the most astonishing, but utterly, utterly fantastic pictures I have ever seen. It's Not Safe For Work, and will simply reinforce every thought about me you've ever had, and after that buildup you can probably guess what it is, but if you're feeling brave, look here :-)

I saw Psydoll last time they played Darklands and was very impressed. They sound better recorded than live, though I suspect that's more down to the acoustics of a pub in York rather than post-editing. You can download a few of their tracks off their website.

Nooooooo. Why are you doing this to me? I *like* nipples. Why make be not like them any more. Not fair!
[I spent a lot of Saturday with images of nipple spiders in my head - argh!]

Re: secondlife
I'm actually regularly playing SL again myself after a very long lay off. I've restarted for *ahem* 'professional reasons', so it's unlikely I'll add what I'm doing now to that LJ ;-) Say "hi" if you're ever in-world.
Re: secondlife
on another random thread will you be up for ethanol abuse at the seaside next weekend?

Oh gods yes. A Tesco online shop took place tonight, and there was a bottle of Jagermeister added to it :-)
