Geeks love to test :-) Anyway, I've vaguely upgraded my phone from a Sony Ericsson P800 on its last legs, to a P900. It's only a mild upgrade but there's a problem with the P-series. As they're very much designed to be used in conjunction with a PC, they have a strip of contacts along the base. When they sit in the cradle you have next to your PC it auto-connects. Sadly, another place where P-series phones live is in your pocket, a warm and slightly moist environment. After a couple of years, the contacts corrode away and connection becomes problematic. I located a P900 at work (heading for the recycle bin) that's clearly been a test phone, and hasn't spent much (if any) time in someone's pocket - the contacts look shiny and new.
The camera in my P800 had also stopped working. The P900 does video as well as stills (ooh!). First test was just to write and email a "story plus pic" into LJ and see how it went. I may as well leave the image. Here's what my PC monitor looks like at work:

LJ now creates a nice, low res (320x240) version for your journal, as well as the full size original.
I'm STILL waiting for my lovely, does-everything-except-make-the-tea P990i, which is out sometime this summer, I believe. *techno-lust*
Anyway, back to work...

Anyway, some things you need to keep on a piece of paper. For example, the phone number of the Support people you ring up when your computer blows up! :-)
