Take distant stars which have virtually no measurable movement as a fixed background, a celestial sphere against which closer bodies move. Greetings to fellow Terrans steer and mister_ed, with today being the (approximate) day on which our sun returns to the same place on this sphere as on the day you were born.

Definitely the sun *on* the sphere, so analemma seems to fit that too.

Clearly, it's an approximation as things are always precessing and I'm not taking the mismatch between sidereal and calendar years into account.
