The Alarm MCMLXXXV

The latest set of images from the vaults come from a gig by The Alarm at Leicester De Montfort Hall on 1985-12-09. This was the tour supporting the Strength album. I snuck my first SLR (a lovely communist-era Praktica MTL5) with telephoto lens in. The results can be found at:

These are scans from the negatives. There aren't many images, which is mostly a factor of the relative expense to me back then of a roll of colour film and its development. A few images simply weren't worth scanning, as they were blurred or out of focus. In this day and age, you would happily take scores of digital images.

I've been told that the MPO might be interested in copies of your pics for their archive of images...

Oh, who are the MPO? They can quite happily have copies of these. If they want the *really* high res originals (3-4Mb each) tell them to get in touch.

I got a new scanner for christmas which had as a criteria "must scan negatives well". It's turned out to be not *quite* as good as I would like. Too much automated picture recogntion, which tends to break down when there's a lot of darkness in the images (as with these). I would have preferred something that I could actually tell to scan the *entire* strip of negatives, and leave me to split them up later. I do know how to use The GIMP! :-)

Quite possibly. I have seen The Alarm quite a few times so I can't be sure. I do recall leaving my camera with Jo so I could go and mosh, and she complained later that she had wanted to. I pointed out her footwear (high heels) was somewhat incompatible with a mosh pit! :-)

Think more coming out of the woodwork with the new album ... oh on that note the one i got in HMV was not copyright protected .... as need to do some DJ promos of it and it ripped the tracks I needed first time ..
