That time based questionnaire

20 years ago? 4th year at Secondary school. Hopelessly in love with Helen Little, but she wouldn't have me. Generally a bit clueless. Lived in Ashby de-la Zouch. Horrifying example of small town England. I never go back there.
10 years ago? Living (in sin) in Hull with Trash. I seem to recall this was a really good time for rock nightclubs there. Romeo and Juliet's (which really was fantastic) had gone by now, but there was still Quigleys and some other place. There was always Spiders ("two tarantulas please - one for each hand"). Working for Pindar in York, so riding back and forth every day on my lovely CBR600. Long hair by now.
5 years ago? Married to Trash by now and living in York. Listening to "bleepy shit" but not really telling anybody. Still working for Pindar.
3 years ago? Hmmm. 29 April 2000 was a Saturday. (Looks in log files). Hah! Boro beat West Ham 1-0 on this day three years ago, which means it was Chris Stamp's stag weekend in London. road_runner who wasn't very happy to be there. He went off for a beer at half time and came back with Coke 'cos they had run out! The rest of us (Boro supporters) were very happy! Pindar had made me redundant, but I swiftly got a job at PA New Media (then Ananova, now Orange).
1 year ago? Short hair now. One year ago I was working on code for The World Cup.
Yesterday? Worked hard all day writing code to process TV listings, Cricket scores and match reports. Then wrote some code for the community web site at http://www.bishopthorpe.net. Went home and went to bed 'cos I was knackered!
Tomorrow? Write more code to process Cricket match reports. Maybe do some Tennis code tomorrow. Hopefully take a night off from the community web site stuff so I can go home at a reasonable hour.

Well obviously not! Although the idea of going to a footie match as part of a stag night is absolutely excellent I have to say (even if it has to be the smoggies ;-> )

I don't know to be honest. In typical programmer style, I'm writing code I've been given a spec for and not caring about anything else! I'll ask

Can you tell I'm a little de-motivated about this :-)
I'm doing some story entry forms and CGIs, then bowing out. I spend all day working on things like this, and it only took me a few hours of doing this to realise why I want paying to do it. They can find some teenage hacker with loads of time on his/her hands and a fervent desire to rule the world with their HTML and Perl. It's what I would have loved to do 20 years ago.
