Temporal Update
Today there is a birthday party for a five-year-old at the end of our close, at which I dropped off
evie_petrol about half an hour ago, in her pink party dress. Ever since a small procession of little girls in pink dresses, fairy outfits or Snow White dresses has ambled up the road past my window with parents, clutching pink-wrapped presents. A minute or so later the parents run past in the opposite direction! :-) I am playing music VERY LOUDLY and spodding on a Sunday, which is unusual for me. Trash and I are meeting for a civilised lunch in our own house at 12:00 which will NOT involve a pre-schooler.
Friday was Rock Star wedding (
ant_girl and
grufti) which was great. Loads of people, lovely food, more people, interesting conversation, Trash giggling due to the bad women who take the piss out of me and utterly fantastic music.
Saturday was Middlesbrough vs Sunderland at the Riverside, a crusty local derby. It was a fantastic match to watch, end-to-end and very exciting. The kind of match that leaves you breathless, glancing at the clock and thinking "what, has 30 minutes passed *already*?" It ended 2-2, which was pretty fair to be honest. Downing's goal was fantastic. Whooosh - back of the net!
Saturday night was
wey's birthday do in York to celebrate her *mumble* birthday. More food, interesting conversation and (for me) BEER! Doesn't time pass quickly when you're drinking?
Hurrah for my mother, who looked after
evie_petrol on Friday and Saturday, allowing Trash and I to see loads of each other (which is oddly rare). On Saturday we crossed a Rubicon, and for the first time got a local teenage girl in to babysit. Trash told me she felt old as she prepared a selection of foodstuffs for the babysitter. That's such a grown-up thing to be doing!
I haven't seen much of
evie_petrol over the last couple of days, so I'm playing with her today. There seems to be a huge tent construction thing in the conservatory, which we built out of chairs and a throw this morning. I think a trip to the park might be in order later, to take advantage of the reasonable weather. Unless all her little friends appear on the close (which often happens) and they get some form of game going.
