STS-118

As usual when a space shuttle is on orbit, I have a small window on my PC showing NASA TV so I can see and hear what's going on. It's pretty boring, unless you're a space-obsessed techno-nerd like me.

Yesterday's wake-up music was Where My Heart Will Take Me by Russell Watson. Yes, indeed, that dreadful theme from the TV series Enterprise. Erk! Then, after Mission Control and the astronauts had discussed important things (e.g. have any important bits fallen of the shuttle, answer: none noticed so far) a bizarre exchange took place where the astronauts asked for clarification as to where their eating utensils were stored. Yep, we can put a man on the moon, but he won't necessarily be able to find a spoon to eat his breakfast with when he gets there! They eventually discovered them, and a slightly grumpy-sounding astronaut was able to say "well that was a bloody stupid place to store them", only in convoluted NASA-speak.

One of the modules on the space station is called Destiny. Another, soon to be installed, module is now called Harmony. [Spod alert] what do I have to do to convince NASA to call the next three modules Rhapsody, Sympony and Melody? ;-)
