Yesterday some women came into the office. You wouldn't believe the stir this caused. I work in IT ... I did a quick head count this morning, and there were 25 men in the ell-shaped office I work in, and one woman. For some reason, the part of the company I work for is part of the Marketing division. This means that every so often lots of lovely Marketing Women visit. This lot seemed to be a small bunch of about half a dozen new starters, all aged about twenty-something. It was a hot day, so they were in fairly floaty and flimsy clothing. Their high-heels clicked as they walked across the stone floor.

It was like being in some form of prison or army: we suddenly looked like a bunch of crusty veterans, who have been at the front too long, when a group of nurses arrive. It made us all go a bit pathetic and wibbly. "Alert, alert, WOMEN in the office." All rather odd. It wasn't lecherous, more sort of wistful glances at what we rarely see.

When they walked to the other end of the office some of us decided it was time for a coffee break, as that meant we would have to walk past them again :-)

I work with some mellow people, but they're nearly all men, and most are very scruffy too (though, fortunately, nobody could be considered smelly, so that's good). I work with a bunch of speccy nerds. Let's face it, I am a speccy nerd!

Ah well, at least the money is good in IT... *sigh*

I've just thought - I spent many years using Michelins on my motorbike, but I switched to Bridgestones a couple of years ago. Oooooh!
That's one lovely thing about hot weather - warm tarmac and warm tyres - mmmm, sticky.
